Texas Teens 4 Libraries (TT4L)
Teen Day at TLA 2012

The Young Adult Round Table and the 2012 Conference Program Committee are again sponsoring a very special opportunity for Texas teens to attend the 2012 TLA Annual Conference in Houston. Texas Teens 4 Libraries (TT4L) is an all-day event for teens, scheduled on Thursday, April 19, 2012, 8:00am-4:00pm.

TT4L is designed to encourage the active participation of teens in TLA’s annual conference by offering them the opportunity to attend sessions, visit the Exhibit Hall, talk informally with YA authors, and interact with other Texas young adults who share their interest in reading, technology, and libraries.

Teens who attend TT4L must be sponsored by a TLA librarian who is attending the 2012 annual conference.  We require a chaperone ratio of 1 chaperone for every 5 students.  Teens must wear their TT4L shirt while at the conference and be accompanied by and stay with a chaperone while on the exhibit hall floor.

A special room will be set up for registered teens, their sponsoring librarians, and non-librarian sponsors acting as chaperones. Teens and their chaperones must arrive at the teen room between 8-9 a.m. to check in and to pick up their t-shirts. Teens will be able to meet there to plan their schedule, touch base with their sponsors, meet YA authors, meet other teens, and regroup throughout the day.

Teens will be able to visit the exhibit hall, as well as attend any regularly scheduled conference session on Thursday. YART volunteers will be stationed in the TT4L room throughout the day to talk about programming and the exhibit hall and to assist teens with questions or concerns about the conference.

A special feature of TT4L is the chance for teens to visit informally with YA authors who are already presenting at the annual conference. A schedule for these conversations between teens, sponsoring librarians, and YA authors will be distributed after teens are registered for the conference.

 Teen Book Trailers

Digital Book Trailers and Booktalks created by teens will be shown this year within the Teen Room.  All participants booktalks must adhere to the stipulated guidelines and have a signed permission slip.

All registration forms must be received by March 1, 2012. Sponsoring librarians will receive email confirmation concerning their teens’ presenter status by Monday, March 15, 2012.
